WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER CHANGING SERVICE COMPANIES

Many businesses are keeping their used copiers at the end of the lease instead of trading them in.  This is because the copiers often still work well and meet their needs.  They figure their only expense will be a maintenance agreement to keep it going especially since it is now five years old and has some wear and tear.   That's a smart strategy except you may end up paying too much for a maintenance agreement if you get it from the person who originally sold you the copier.  First of all, they aren't going to be happy that you chose not to upgrade.  After all, that would have locked you in for another five years with a steady stream of service and toner revenue.  Plus you are now going to get used copier rates for a copier that has a lot of copies and prints on the meter.   So before you commit to a maintenance agreement with cancellation penalties call us and make sure you're getting a fair deal.  Our used copier rates are similar to new copier rates.  Plus I … [Read more...]

WHEN IT’S BETTER TO HANG ONTO THAT OLD COPIER

A lot of new copier models are replacing perfectly fine models every two to three years and the new models are not as reliable. I'm not going to mention brands so it doesn't sound like I have an 'axe to grind'. However, I find this perplexing. In the old days upgrades usually had some improvements which is why new models were always welcomed by the resellers. I have some theories on this. The first one I hope isn't true; and that would be that if a copier was 'bullet proof' customers wouldn't want to upgrade. I noticed this trend the past few years. Customers would get to the end of their lease and realize the copier was perfectly fine and decide to keep it. Models before that were not so robust so most people were glad to be at the end of their lease so they could trade it in. To be blunt; the Japanese have to keep their factories in China humming. This means built in obsolescence and consistent upgrades. This is also good for the dealer since they count on a new sale when someone … [Read more...]

USING A COPIER FOR THE CLOUD, MOBILE PRINTING & PAPERLESS

Todays copiers can help you with Cloud Computing; Mobile Printing; and the desire to go Paperless. The office copier which is now referred to as an MFP is the Gateway for this because it has a high speed reliable scanner at the top. Scanning has become the most popular feature on today's MFPs (copiers). Especially since color scanning is becoming a standard feature even on black and white copiers. Following is a brief overview of these three fast moving currents. Cloud computing recognizes the dominance of the Internet for everything including printing and scanning. Cloud computing is a way for businesses to save money by increasing and decreasing computing as their needs change. The computing infrastructure is not on your premises. You simply rent capacity from the company providing the cloud computing instead of buying a lot of copier repair service hardware and software. The scanner on top the copier is one of the ways of sending information to the cloud so it can be accessed … [Read more...]

HOW NOT TO GET GOUGED ON A SERVICE CALL

Most copier repair companies have an honest reputation and try to do their best. However, there is occasionally an exception and here are some tips. Granted sometimes a service estimate is high because the wrong thing broke or several things are wrong. But if your intuition is telling you to get a second estimate do it. Always follow your gut feeling on this. … [Read more...]
